New Member Auditions

Our next new member auditions will be on January 7, 2024 beginning at 7:00 pm. You will need an appointment to audition. If you are interested in being placed on our list, please email info@memphissymphonychorus.org to reserve an audition time.

At the Audition:

1.  We will ask you first to do several scales. We will lead you through these. This gives you a chance to warm up a bit, and gives us a chance to hear your range.

2.  We will then take you through the Star-Spangled Banner (USA National Anthem). Again, we will ask you to sing this in several keys.

3.  Finally we will do a short sight-singing exercise where you will be asked to read an unfamiliar piece of music. This can be the most stressful part of the audition. Just do your best and commit yourself to reading through the entire exercise.

If you are debating on whether or not to go through the audition process, please let me encourage you to make that commitment. Let me assure you that everyone walking into an audition feels very nervous, but everyone leaves feeling very good about what they've done. We believe membership in the Symphony Chorus to be a truly exciting and musically rewarding experience!
