The Memphis Symphony Chorus is excited to welcome Nate Dumser as its newly appointed Chorus Conductor. Nate brings more than a decade of experience as a choral music educator, having taught in Shelby County Schools and at St. George's Independent School. Throughout his career as a middle and high school choir director, Nate has led ensembles to consistent Superior ratings at the state level while preparing singers for international performance tours and creating artistically engaging, thematically unified concerts that often feature collaborations with instrumentalists.
Nate holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from the University of Memphis. In recognition of his impact in music education, he was named a 2026 Tennessee Arts Academy Foundation Teacher Hero. His work is characterized by a balance of musical excellence, high expectations, and a supportive rehearsal environment that welcomes singers of all experience levels.
Having studied with Dr. Lawrence Edwards, Conductor Emeritus of the Memphis Symphony Chorus, Nate is honored to continue the ensemble's tradition of artistic excellence while fostering a collaborative musical community that inspires singers and audiences alike.
